Introducing the Paint for Wellness Collection
Paint for Wellness is a sensory-led paint collection I created in collaboration with Graham & Brown. It’s built around the idea that colour isn’t just visual — it’s emotional, physical, and deeply personal.
Each palette in the collection is built around a sensory story: Focus, Gather, Rest, and Nook.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a post on each story, exploring how colour can support the way you want to feel in different parts of the home.
This post is about Focus.
Why Colour Affects How You Feel in a Space
When you walk into a room — a restaurant, a shop, even someone’s home — you immediately register how it feels, not just what it looks like.
That reaction usually comes down to sensory design: the lighting, acoustics, materials, and most of all — the colour.
In busy homes, colour often gets chosen for style, not function. But the right colour can do more than look good. It can help regulate your mood, reduce anxiety, and support better focus. Follow along
This is where the Focus palette from the Paint for Wellness collection comes in.
Why We Created the Focus Palette
Many people now work, think, plan, and problem-solve from home. That shift has changed what we need from our spaces. We need home environments that support clear thinking and help us stay calm under pressure.

Focus was created in collaboration with Graham & Brown to meet that need. It’s a low-stimulation colour story, designed to support concentration without overwhelming the senses.
Cooler tones — especially certain shades of blue — have been shown to improve mental clarity and lower stress levels. Combined with warm neutrals, the palette strikes the right balance between clean and comfortable.
As the Bauhaus movement once said:
“Colour is a power which directly influences the soul.”
Focus was designed to do exactly that: help create spaces that support thinking, calm, and regulation.
Meet the Focus Colours
You don’t need to use all four colours together. The palette is a guide — a starting point for building a scheme that works for your space and your life. Some colours can stand alone. Others work beautifully together.
Here’s how each one works:
Breathe
- A mid, engaging blue
- Use it to make a room feel spacious and light
- Works well on walls, skirtings, and doors or as a colour drench (as long as you have a good light source)
- Pairs beautifully with Indian Ink
- Use Plover and Slide for your accessory colours
Slide
- A soft, blue-grey
- Calms the space without flattening it
- Great for cabinetry, study corners or restful wall colour
- Works especially well with Plover and Indian Ink
Plover
- A muted, warm neutral.
- My personal favourite for its softness and versatility.
- Use anywhere: walls, woodwork, half-wall feature
- Combines quietly with Indian Ink and Slide
Indian Ink
- A subtle and sophisticated grey
- Adds intention and weight.
- Ideal for a feature wall, painted woodwork or contrast detailing.
- Works well with Slide and Breathe
How to Use Colour to Support Focus
Using colour intentionally can help reduce visual noise and make it easier to concentrate. This matters in real life, especially in:
- Home offices
- Study zones for kids or teens
- Shared living spaces with multiple uses
In these spaces, cooler hues like those in the Focus palette can help:
- Support mental clarity
- Reduce overstimulation
- Create visual order
- Set boundaries between ‘work’ and ‘rest’
Even a small shift — a wall, a built-in, a painted desk nook — can make a real difference.
Focus for Busy Homes and Real Life
If your home is full of activity, schedules, screens, and to-do lists, having a space that supports focus and calm isn’t just nice to have — it’s essential.

The colours in Focus were created to work quietly in the background. To support you, rather than distract you. Whether you use one colour or combine two, this story is about helping your home feel more aligned with how you want to live.
